Ssemble is an AI clipping tool that turns long YouTube videos and uploads into Shorts, TikToks and Reels, then schedules and posts them for you. It is one of the cheapest clippers per hour of video in 2026, but it has no free plan, so you pay before you can download a single clip.

Ssemble sells four plans, each billed monthly or yearly. Yearly billing is 60% cheaper. We checked these prices on Ssemble’s pricing page on October 19, 2026. The cheapest plan, Pro, is still $15 a month, not the $9 a month some older reviews list.

Is there a free plan or free trial?

No. Ssemble’s help center says it doesn’t offer a free trial or free tier. You can sign up and generate preview clips, but you need a plan to download, publish or make more clips. Purchases are non-refundable, so start with one month of Pro ($15) rather than a year.

How credits work

One credit processes up to 20 minutes of source video. Longer videos are split into 20-minute segments at 1 credit each, or you can pick a single 20-minute window from a long video for 1 credit. Credits don’t roll over: monthly credits reset each billing cycle, and yearly plans give the full year upfront.

That model makes Ssemble very cheap for long videos. On Pro billed yearly, a credit costs $0.20, so a 1-hour episode costs about $0.60. On Vizard, which charges 1 credit per minute, the same hour costs about $1.45 on Creator billed yearly.

What’s new in Ssemble in 2026

• Channel Automation: paste a public YouTube channel URL and Ssemble watches it for new uploads, clips each one and auto-posts the clips that beat your virality threshold (80 by default). Lower-scoring clips wait in your dashboard for review. It only processes new uploads, not the channel’s back catalog.
• MCP server and API: every plan includes API access, and Ssemble now ships an open-source MCP server, so you can ask Claude, Cursor or VS Code to “create shorts from this video”. Webhooks plug it into n8n, Zapier and Make.
• Clip Rewards: a marketplace that pays clippers $1 per 1,000 verified views on campaign clips, paid through PayPal once you reach $10.
• More caption styles and add-ons: caption templates, background music, gameplay overlays for split-screen clips and short “meme hook” intros, all available from the app and the API.

Ssemble pros and cons

What works: the cost per hour of video is hard to beat, scheduling and posting are built into every plan, and the API and MCP server make it one of the easiest clippers to automate. Channel Automation is a real time saver if you clip the same creators every week.

What doesn’t: there is no free plan and no refunds, the editor is basic next to Descript or CapCut, and AI picks still need a human check before they go out. Pro only connects one social account, so posting to several channels pushes you to Expert or Business.
