Is Dance AI free? The app is free to download, but making videos takes a weekly plan from $9.99 plus coins. See the prices, coin packs and user complaints.
Dance AI (listed as “Dance AI – Video Generator”) is a phone app from DeePix AI that turns one photo of you, a friend, a kid or a pet into a short dancing video. Here is what its App Store listing, the DeePix AI website and user reviews say about the price and the problems.
What is Dance AI and why is it trending?
The app first reached the App Store in February 2026 and is still on version 1.1.0, from September 11. It went viral in early October: chart trackers put it at #11 in the US Photo & Video chart on October 9, and the listing showed #12 on October 11, with a 4.6-star average from about 18,000 ratings. DeePix AI also makes Shots (see our Shots AI review), so the two apps ride the same AI dance-video wave.
The listing says Dance AI animates your photo frame by frame instead of laying a filter on top. It also does general photo animation, text to video and creative filters, and the listing says videos export ready for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
How Dance AI works
- Upload a photo of yourself, a friend, your kids or your pet, or write a prompt.
- Pick a dance style from the library of dances, templates and effects.
- Generate the video: the app says it takes seconds, with no filming or editing.
- Download and share the clip to social media.
Dance AI Pricing (2026)
The app is free to download. DeePix AI has no pricing page, so we read the in-app purchase list on the US App Store listing on October 11, 2026. The listing says plans are weekly and yearly and unlock “all styles, effects, and tools”, and it also sells coin packs.
| What you buy | US price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly Premium and Weekly Standart Premium | $9.99 per week each | Two separate weekly products at the same price (the listing spells it “Standart”) |
| Weekly Gold Premium | $12.99 per week | Listed as a weekly plan |
| Weekly Basic Premium | $14.99 per week | The highest weekly price on the list |
| Yearly Premium | $39.99 per year | One of two yearly plans |
| Yearly Premium (second option) | $79.99 per year | Same name on the listing, double the price |
| Starter Pack | $9.99 | Coin pack |
| Quarter, Half and Full Coin Packs | $14.99, $24.99 and $34.99 | Coin packs |
The weekly price adds up fast. Left running for a year, $9.99 a week costs about $519 and $14.99 a week about $779, against $39.99 or $79.99 for a yearly plan. Coin packs are on top of that.
Is Dance AI free? Only to download. The listing says you “upgrade for unlimited AI dance videos” with a subscription, and it sells coins as well. Reviewers on the App Store and Google Play say that a subscription alone did not cover everything and that videos cost coins. One Google Play reviewer says each video was 60 coins and the starting balance was 150, and another mentions $7.99 a week on Android, so Android prices differ from the US iPhone list. Those numbers come from reviews, not from DeePix AI.
Dance AI complaints and reviews
The App Store rating is high, but several of the written reviews we read are negative, and the same issues come up on Google Play.
- Subscription plus coins: a February review says you pay for a subscription and then for coins, which makes regular use expensive.
- Failed videos: an October 2 review says every photo returned “oops we couldn’t process your request”, even at 4K.
- Freezing and lost work: a February review says the app froze after reinstalling, created videos disappeared and the app did not recognize the subscription.
- Billing surprises: a March review says the first week was discounted but they were charged for more than four weeks after they thought they could cancel.
- Slow support: two reviewers say support offered no help, or only pointed to articles and then stopped replying.
- Face changes: a March review says the dance moves were good but the person in the video did not look like them.
There is a positive side too: a June review calls the dance moves creative, smooth and realistic. These are individual user reports, not tests we ran.
How to cancel Dance AI and get a refund
- iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Dance AI, Cancel Subscription. The listing says to cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel the plan.
- Android: cancel in your Google account settings under subscriptions.
- Refunds: DeePix AI’s terms of use say it is not liable for reimbursing you after you cancel, so ask Apple or Google, for example through reportaproblem.apple.com for iPhone purchases. Support is info@deepixai.com.
Limitations
- Two paywalls: you need a subscription and coins.
- Weekly billing: $9.99 to $14.99 a week is easy to forget.
- Unclear coin amounts: the listing does not say what each pack buys.
- No backup: the terms say DeePix AI is not a backup service and is not liable for lost content.
- Privacy: the listing says photos are used only to make your video and are not stored permanently, but its privacy label lists location, identifiers and usage data as used for tracking.
- No help center: DeePix AI publishes terms, a privacy policy and an email address, but no help center that we could find.
Dance AI alternatives
- Shots AI: DeePix AI’s other app, with dance templates and portraits.
- Momo AI: a photo and video app with weekly plans and coins.
- Summrs: viral AI video templates with free credits on signup.
- Pollo AI: hug, kiss and dance effects from photos.
- Higgsfield AI: cinematic effects and AI influencer tools.
TechPilot.ai’s Verdict on Dance AI
Dance AI is a simple way to make a dancing video from a photo, and the App Store rating shows plenty of people enjoy it. The dance moves are the draw.
The catch is the cost. You pay weekly, from $9.99, and reviewers say you also pay for coins, with failed videos and billing surprises mixed in. If you try it, set a reminder to cancel, check what your plan includes and keep coin spending small. For a first try, a tool with a clearer free tier is the safer pick.
