Independent and reader-supported. Some links may earn us a commission; it never changes our scores. Editorial policy

HyperFrames Studio is HeyGen’s free desktop video editor for agents. See Mac and Linux downloads, Claude or ChatGPT billing, and how Framey guides edits.

Desktop agents build the timeline. HyperFrames Studio is a Mac and Linux app from the HeyGen team: you describe a video, Claude Code or Codex builds it, and Framey points to the next step without requiring you to write code.

What is HyperFrames Studio and why is it new?

HyperFrames started as an open-source HTML-to-video framework. Studio wraps that idea in a guided app: sign in with a HeyGen account, connect Claude Code or Codex once, then iterate by typing, pointing, drawing or commenting on the frame.

Downloads live at hyperframes.dev (macOS installer and Linux AppImage). Docs for install and agent setup are on hyperframes.heygen.com.

How HyperFrames Studio works

  1. Install the app: Mac disk image or Linux AppImage from hyperframes.dev.
  2. Sign in with HeyGen: browser auth links the desktop app to your account.
  3. Connect an agent: Claude Code (Claude or Anthropic Console) or Codex (ChatGPT).
  4. Describe the video: the local agent authors HyperFrames compositions.
  5. Edit visually: type, point, draw or comment; Framey nudges the next step.

HyperFrames Studio Pricing (2026)

The Studio desktop app is free to download. Agent runs bill to the Claude or ChatGPT plan you signed the agent into, not to a separate HyperFrames seat. We checked hyperframes.dev and Connect your agent docs on October 9, 2026.

Checked on hyperframes.dev and hyperframes.heygen.com docs, October 9, 2026. No separate Studio subscription listed.

HeyGen’s own avatar and video subscriptions are separate products. Studio does not replace HeyGen’s cloud avatar pricing; it is a local agent editor built by the same company.

Is it worth it? Yes if you already pay for Claude or ChatGPT and want agent-built motion videos on your machine. Budget agent tokens, not a Studio fee.

Best use cases for HyperFrames Studio

  • Product launch clips: turn a URL or brief into motion graphics.
  • Explainers: faceless videos authored as HTML compositions.
  • Code and PR walkthroughs: agent-built change explainers.
  • Brand motion: when you want editable compositions instead of only HeyGen avatar renders.
  • Desktop iteration: tighter loops than cloud-only tools like Spira Maxima.

Limitations

  • Mac and Linux only: no Windows Studio app called out in the docs we checked.
  • Needs an agent account: Claude or ChatGPT billing is required for builds.
  • Setup steps: install agent tooling before the first successful render.
  • HeyGen sign-in required: the app re-prompts until you complete browser auth.
  • Separate from HeyGen cloud plans: Studio free does not include HeyGen avatar minutes.

HyperFrames Studio alternatives

  • HeyGen: cloud avatars and UGC ads with subscription tiers.
  • Spira Maxima: script-to-finished social posts in the browser.
  • Kling 4: generative video clips to edit elsewhere.
  • Higgsfield: creator video suite with credits.

TechPilot.ai’s Verdict on HyperFrames Studio

HyperFrames Studio is a strong free download if you already live in Claude or ChatGPT and want agent-built motion videos with an editable composition underneath.

Treat agent tokens as the real cost. Keep using HeyGen cloud when you need avatars; use Studio when you want local, agent-driven motion graphics.
