Solid AI agents get their own computers, accounts and budgets to finish long jobs for you. See Solid’s pricing, the free trial and what its agents can do.
Instead of stopping when a task needs a server, a sign-up or a payment, Solid’s agents get those resources themselves, within the budget and approval rules you set. You describe the job, close your laptop, and they message you when it’s done.
What is Solid and why is it trending?
Solid is an AI agent platform from a San Francisco startup founded by Trevor Keith. Its new version launched on Product Hunt on September 23, 2026, and finished as the No. 1 Product of the Day. In his launch note, Keith said the team, with people from MIT, Berkeley and Waterloo, has raised $6 million in total, according to DevCuration (September 2026).
Solid first launched in September 2025 as an AI builder for web apps. The 2026 version goes further: agents can pick and set up their own machines, create Google and Apple accounts, pay for services and coordinate other agents, including Codex and Claude Code. It sits closer to Manus than to a simple chatbot.
How Solid works
- Describe the job in plain language, with the goal, the access it needs and your ground rules.
- Set budgets and approvals: decide what agents can spend and which actions need your sign-off.
- Agents get to work: they choose Linux servers, Windows or macOS computers, iPhones or Android phones, and the tools the job needs.
- They fix problems along the way: if a tool fails or setup breaks, they investigate and repair it.
- You get the result: a message with the finished, checked work, such as a hosted dashboard link.
Developers can also use the Solid API to put always-on agents inside their own product, and companies can run Solid on Solid Cloud, in their own VPC or on-premises.
Solid Pricing (2026)
Solid’s monthly plans turn your full payment into credits, which pay for AI usage, machines and any purchases your agents make. There’s no extra platform fee. We checked the Solid pricing page on October 7, 2026.
| Plan | Price | Monthly credits | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trial | Free | Trial usage | Testing Solid on a task of your own |
| Mini | $20/month | $20 | Light usage and small tasks |
| Basic | $40/month | $40 | A focused task, a simple app or a small workflow |
| Pro | $160/month | $180 (12.5% bonus) | Regular work and active app building |
| Max | $640/month | $800 (25% bonus) | Heavy workloads and several projects at once |
Everything draws from one balance, so a job’s real cost depends on the AI models, machines and services it uses. Solid suggests starting with the trial, then asking your agent for a spending breakdown to pick a monthly budget. Solid doesn’t publish how much trial usage you get.
Is it worth it? For long jobs you’d otherwise hand to a freelancer, such as an internal tool or a lead research pipeline, Pro’s bonus credits make sense. For occasional small tasks, Mini is enough.
Best use cases for Solid
- Internal web apps: dashboards and tools that agents build, host and test.
- Sales demos: turn meeting notes into a hosted demo with sample data.
- Lead generation: research leads on LinkedIn and sync them to HubSpot.
- Bug fixing: reproduce, fix and verify production bugs.
- Customer support: resolve tickets across the tools your team uses.
Limitations
- Costs vary by job: AI, machines and purchases all come out of one balance.
- Real-world access: agents that can sign up and pay need tight budgets and approval rules. See our list of AI agent security tools.
- Trial size not published: you won’t know your free allowance until you sign up.
- New version: the current agent platform only launched on September 23, 2026.
- Name confusion: other companies such as getsolid.ai and trysolid.com use similar names.
Solid alternatives
- Emergent: an agent-based app builder for full-stack projects.
- Manus: an autonomous agent for research and multi-step tasks.
- Base44: builds apps from a prompt with a database and hosting.
- Coderblock: a vibe coding platform with a free plan.
TechPilot.ai’s Verdict on Solid
Solid takes the idea of an AI agent further than most: instead of stopping when it needs a server, an account or a payment, it gets those resources and keeps going, within the limits you set.
That power needs supervision. Start with the trial and a small, well-defined job, set tight budgets and approvals, and ask the agent for a cost breakdown before moving to a paid plan.
