Sunra MCP: Pricing, Setup & Free Credits

Sunra MCP puts image, video, audio and 3D models inside Claude and ChatGPT at each model maker’s price. See setup steps, free credits and plan prices.

Sunra launched Sunra MCP on October 19, 2026. It connects the AI assistant you already use, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, to a library of generative models, so you can ask for an image, a video clip, music or a 3D model in the same chat where you write and plan. The hook is pricing: Sunra says it bills every model at the price its maker charges for API access. Prices below were checked on Sunra’s pricing page on October 21, 2026.

What is Sunra MCP?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard that lets AI assistants use outside tools. Sunra MCP is a hosted MCP server at https://mcp.sunra.ai. Once you connect it, your assistant can call models like Seedance, Nano Banana and GPT Image on your Sunra account and return the results in the chat. • Video: models such as Seedance 2.5, billed per clip or per second.
• Audio: speech, sound effects, music, voice changing and dubbing.
• 3D: 3D model generation from a prompt.
• Same balance: the MCP uses the same Sunra credits as the Sunra web app.

It works the same way as the Pika plugin we covered in how to use Pika in ChatGPT, but instead of one company’s models you get many, which is useful if you like to compare outputs before you commit.

How to set up Sunra MCP

In Claude

1. Click Add Sunra to Claude on sunra.ai/mcp. Claude opens with the connector filled in; click Add.
2. Click Connect, sign in to Sunra and click Allow.
3. Ask Claude for an image, a video, music or a 3D model. You can also add it by hand under Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector.

In ChatGPT

1. Open Plugins, click + and choose Add custom MCP server.
2. Name it Sunra, paste https://mcp.sunra.ai, choose OAuth, accept the warning and create it as a plugin.
3. Install it from Personal, sign in to Sunra when asked, and click Allow.

You don’t need an API key. Sign-in happens through OAuth, so your assistant never sees your password. For Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, Sunra’s page gives a prompt you paste into the agent, which installs the CLI and walks you through sign-in.

Is Sunra MCP free?

Partly. Sunra says every signed-in account gets a free daily allowance of credits that refreshes each day, which is enough to test the MCP. Sunra doesn’t publish the exact daily amount. Failed or cancelled generations are refunded, and the cost of each generation is shown before it runs. For regular use you’ll want a paid plan.

Sunra MCP uses your normal Sunra plan. These are the prices on October 21, 2026:

Bigger plans also lower the per-generation price. On the yearly Basic plan Sunra lists Seedance 2.5 at $0.078 a second, Nano Banana 2 at $0.037 an image and GPT Image 2.5 at $0.007 an image. On Creator the same models drop to $0.039 a second, $0.019 and $0.004.

Is the “maker’s price” claim real? In its launch post, Sunra publishes a long table comparing its prices with Runway, Higgsfield, Krea, Pika, fal, Replicate and others. That table is Sunra’s own, and some competitors come out cheaper on certain models, but it’s a useful starting point if you’re comparing platforms like Higgsfield.

Limitations

• Free allowance is vague: Sunra doesn’t say how many free credits you get a day.
• Yearly prices are the headline: month-to-month plans cost $12, $29 and $125.
• Chat isn’t an editor: fine-tuning a video edit is still easier in a dedicated app.
• Self-reported price comparison: the competitor table comes from Sunra.

Verdict

Sunra MCP is a good fit if you already plan and write in Claude or ChatGPT and want images, video and audio without switching apps or juggling API keys. Start with the free daily credits, and if you generate a lot of video, the yearly Pro or Creator plans bring per-second prices down sharply.
